City of Waterloo Awarded $750,000 Railyard Relocation Grant
The study aims to address traffic congestion issues in downtown Waterloo and enhance pedestrian access by relocating the train building yard. This strategic move is expected to not only ease traffic flow but also significantly improve safety along the corridor.
"We are thrilled to receive this grant, which will enable us to conduct vital research on improving transportation infrastructure in our city," said Mayor Quentin Hart "The relocation of the railroad yard and the safety improvements will benefit our community by enhancing accessibility and safety for residents and visitors alike."
The grant award is subject to the provisions governing Department of Transportation discretionary grants, including the requirement to notify Congress at least three full business days before announcing any discretionary grant award. This ensures transparency and accountability in the use of federal funds for transportation projects.
