Airfares from Waterloo are Very Competitive

Recently, an airfare survey completed by Airport Staff reveals that numerous airfares from Waterloo, and based on a roundtrip reservation on American Airlines to cities all over the U.S., are very competitive when compared to larger airports in Iowa.

Keith Kaspari, Airport Director at Waterloo Regional Airport, provided comment, “The reduction in fares are a result of Staff working with officials at American Airlines for an extended period – and to convince them to allow fares to ALO to, at a minimum, either match or lower common airfares such as those cities in the survey.

However, the above survey results reveals what many people have known for quite some time – in that traveling from Waterloo is smart, easy and a very cost effective way to start to passenger’s itinerary for either business or leisure travel, especially when you include the higher costs associated with travel at other airports including the daily cost of vehicle parking, the longer lines for flight check-in, moving through the security check-point, and possibly an overnight hotel stay, the higher cost of gas for your personal or company vehicle, and the general wear and tear, road construction or winter road conditions – and all combined as the Cost-Calculator with the Fly-Drive Scenario.”

Kaspari continued comment, “The above survey results also reflect that just because another airport has additional flights and hub choices, that Waterloo can be both a viable and cost-effective alternative in contrast with many passengers assuming that airfares from Waterloo are more expensive – and as we can see from the above, that is not necessarily the case.

At ALO, the daily fee of only $6.00 per day, a short walk into a clean, warm and inviting passenger terminal building, and outstanding customer service.  ALO’s passengers go through the security checkpoint with an average of only 8-minutes.  Recently added amenities include a Book Loan (or take) Library, courtesy of the Friends of the Waterloo Library, as you relax before boarding your flight to Chicago.

Kaspari closed with final comment: “Without question, as we continue to put the COVID-19 pandemic in our rear view mirror, I am happy to see Cedar Valley area passengers returning to fly.  Business and leisure travelers are reminded to check ALO first, Fly Local, and support the Waterloo Regional Airport.  Continued support from local residents and business located throughout the Greater Cedar Valley Region will help build the case for additional flights to and from ALO.”
