Future of Waterloo Aquatics

The public was invited to participate in a community meeting regarding the future of public swimming pools in Waterloo.  Waterloo Leisure Services along with representatives from consultants Ballard King & Associates and Water Technology Inc. will be hosting the meeting.

This is a chance for citizens to shape the future of our aquatic offerings in Waterloo for the next 25 years.

Discussions will focus on alternative options for existing spaces and pool amenities the public wants to have for aquatics.

The consultants have been contracted by the City to complete a detailed review of existing pool structures, a current market assessment, and come with ideas of other outdoor recreational facilities that are currently lacking in the City.

Swimming Pool flyer“This is such an exciting time for the citizens of Waterloo.  It has been over 40 years since new swimming pools have been built in our great City,” says Mark Gallagher, Waterloo Recreation Superintendent. “I expect a great turnout with meaningful public input as we move forward!"

Gallagher continues, “In my years as a Parks and Recreation professional with the City of Waterloo I have seen time and again how passionate our community is when it comes to quality of life offerings in Waterloo.  Swimming Pools are a key component of our system.  With that being said, this is a great opportunity for people to have their voices heard on the direction we take on this exciting new venture!”
