Friday Loo Summer Concert Series Kicks Off May 14

The Friday Loo Summer Concert Series kicks off Friday, May 14th from 5:30 to 9:30 pm at Lincoln Park in downtown Waterloo. “It has been a long time since we have been able to gather together in Lincoln Park to kick off the weekend.  Friday Loo is one of the community’s favorite summer events and we are thrilled to come back together, showcase the renovated Lincoln Park and celebrate summer. The planning committee did not slow down and has worked hard to put together a diverse line up of music and food that appeals to everyone. They have taken necessary precautions to create a free, fun atmosphere all while keeping everyone safe, “said Main Street Waterloo executive director Jessica Rucker.

Kicking off the season is Wildcard.  They will be playing a mix of modern and old school country, offset with a touch of rock n roll. With over 100 years of combined stage experience, these guys are ready to get you on your feet to dance the night away.  Wildcard has opened for national acts including Rodney Atkins, Florida Georgia Line, Shenandoah and David Allen Coe and now will be kicking off the downtown Waterloo event season.

Food trucks are a favorite part of Friday Loo and you can be assured, you won’t go home hungry.  An excellent line-up of food vendors including:  Jim’s Smokin’ the Wheels on the Grill BBQ, Hungry Charlies, Flip’s, Chuckster’s and Here’s What’s Poppin - there’s something for everyone!

An addition to the event this week is a partnership with UnityPoint Health to host a mobile vaccination clinic. Unity Point Health will be at Friday Loo to administer the COVID-19 vaccine. No appointment is necessary and both one-dose and two-dose options will be available. Those who choose two doses will be asked to schedule an appointment for their second dose due in three weeks.  Insurance information and a photo ID will be requested, but not required to receive a vaccine. Visit www.unitypoint.org/vaccine to learn more about the COVID-19 vaccine and other frequently asked questions.

Admission is always FREE thanks to the generous support of our sponsors!  Thank you to The Loft for partnering with us, our radio sponsor K92.3, and Hawkeye Community College for use of their flatbed trailer.
