NOTICE OF 2nd PUBLIC HEARING
FOR CITIZEN INPUT ON THE
CITY OF WATERLOO
COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT
FY22 ANNUAL ACTION PLAN

In response to COVID-19, the 2nd public hearing for the FY22 Annual Action Plan will be held on Tuesday, February 16, 2021 at 5:00 p.m. via Zoom videoconferencing immediately after the City of Waterloo Community Development Board meeting. For information on how to participate in the electronic meeting, please email anita.merfeld@waterloo-ia.org or call the Community Development office at (319)- 291-4429. Public input will be considered in preparing the City of Waterloo's FY22 Annual Action Plan.

The FY22 One-Year Action Plan is prepared based on recommendations of area citizens, various organizations and City Depa1tments. The One-Year Action Plan budget is compatible with the community's needs and with objectives of the U. S. Department of Housing and Urban Development's (HUD) Community Development Block Grant and 1-IlvEPrograms.

The primary goal of the HUD Community Development Block Grant and HOME Program is "The development of viable communities by providing decent housing in a suitable living environment, principally for persons of low- and moderate-income," and may also provide expanded economic development oppo1tunities for low-income persons. Maximum priority will be given to activities that benefit low- and moderate-income families; aid in the prevention or elimination of slums and blight; or meet other community development needs having a pa1ticular urgency.

The Community Development Board reviewed all citizen suggestions and prepared the proposed budget. (Click here to see the proposed budget.) The exact amount of funds available for the year beginning July 1, 2021 may differ somewhat from that shown below. In the event federal funds are less than estimated, each activity will be reduced by the percent of reduction. In the event federal funds are more than estimated, the overage will be applied to Single Family Rehabilitation for both CDBG and HOME.

Contact Rudy D. Jones, Community Development Director at (319) 291-4429 for fu1ther information on the use of Community Development Block Grant and HOME funds.
