What's New?
Check out the schedule for the upcoming workshops. We will be holding Lead Safe Work Practice workshops in the upcoming months. Anyone can attend and it is strongly encouraged that anyone living in a home built before 1978 attend these workshops. There is a nominal fee for this training.

We just received a grant from the Environmental Protection Agency to assist us with our goal of making Waterloo Lead Safe. It is a $100,000 grant over a 2 year period. It is to be used for Lead Assessments, Clearance Testing, Education and Community Outreach, and Training. Waterloo was one of two communities in EPA Region VII that was awarded this grant.

The Waterloo Community Development Board submitted a grant application in June, 2007 for funding to eliminate lead-base paint hazards. On September 14, 2007, the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) notified us that our application entitled "WaterLoo Eliminates LeAd HazarDs", had been selected for a grant award. The maximum that we might be eligible to receive is $1,510,597.00, which will be determined in the upcoming months. HUD's goal is to negotiate and obligate the grant award before November 15, 2007. An award of this magnitude will assist the Community Development Board in furthering our efforts towards making Waterloo a Lead Safe Community. Further information will be forthcoming as it is available.
