Citizen Input - Public Information Forum


The City of Waterloo, acting through its Community Development Board, will begin accepting proposals for the use of Community Development Block Grant and HOME Program funds for FY202l.  A public information forum will be held on November 12, 2019 from 1:00p.m.-2:00 p.m. at the Center for the Arts, (Hurwich Room) 225 Commercial Street, Waterloo, Iowa to discuss the Community Development Block Grant and HOME Programs and answer questions regarding the application process. Official application packets will be required. 

The application deadline for all written requests is set for noon on December 31, 2019.  Please mail your requests or comments directly to Rudy Jones, Community Development Director, Community Development Board, 620 Mulberry Street, Suite 202, Waterloo, Iowa 50703. 

A·  public hearing is scheduled for January 15, 2020 at 5:00 p.m. to receive additional comments. The hearing will be held in City Council Chambers, 715 Mulberry Street. A preliminary Consolidated Plan schedule is attached. 

The Block Grant and HOME Program funds are made available to the City of Waterloo by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. These programs give priority to activities which principally benefit low- and moderate­ income families, aicl in the prevention or elimination of slums or blight, meet other Community Development needs having a pai1icular urgency, or provide affordable housing. Designated target areas will be given preference for the federal funds.
