Now accepting proposals for Community Development Block Grant

The City of Waterloo, acting through its Community Development Board, is now accepting proposals for the use of Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) and HOME Program funds for FY2019. Written proposals must be submitted to Rudy D. Jones, Community Development Director, Waterloo Community Development Board, 620 Mulberry Street, Waterloo, Iowa 50703, using the required application form and received no later than 12:00 p.m. (Noon) on December 30, 2017.

A public information forum will be held on Wednesday, November 15, 2017, from 1:30 – 2:30 p.m. at the Waterloo Center for the Arts, (Hurwich Room), 225 Commercial Street, Waterloo, Iowa, to discuss the CDBG and HOME Programs and answer questions regarding the application process. A public hearing will be held on January 9, 2018, at 5:00 p.m. to receive additional comments for the proposed One-Year Action Plan.

Block Grant and HOME Program funds are made available to the City of Waterloo by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. These programs give priority to activities which benefit low- and moderate-income families, aid in the prevention or elimination of slums or blight, meet other Community Development needs having a particular urgency, or provide affordable housing.

We strongly encourage citizen participation in this planning process. For more details contact the Community Development office at 319-291-4429.
