
The City Clerk is an appointee of the City Council and serves as support for the Mayor and seven Council members. The City Clerk is responsible for duties defined by the Code of Iowa and designated by the City Council. These include supervision of City Council staff support services, preparation of City Council agendas; recording and maintaining all Council minutes, proceedings and ordinances; collection of non-moving traffic violations fees; issue of various Licenses and Permits; oversees the Telecommunications Commission, Public Access Studio, and Memorial Hall Commission. The City Clerk regularly provides information concerning Council proceeding and ordinances to the general public, media and other City Departments. The City Clerk's Office stands at the center of a complex communication network to transmit information concerning city government and its operation.
